About Us

Who We Are

Luke Initiative for Scripture Translation (LIST) is a Christian organization working hand in hand with the Nigerian Church, local communities, and strategic partners to develop languages, translate Scripture, and encourage its use for the transformation of lives.
Our foundation rests on the belief that God speaks every language and that every person deserves to experience His Word in the language they understand best.

What We Do

We adopt a cluster strategy, grouping linguistically related languages together to maximize collaboration and impact. Each cluster engages in a series of training workshops and translation activities to achieve set goals.

Our work involves:

  • Language and orthography development
  • Production of transitional literacy materials
  • Translation of the Gospel of Luke (in print and audio)
  • Creation of Scripture-based materials and the Jesus Film
  • Preparation for New Testament and full Bible translation
As projects mature, they expand from initial goals to full-scale translation of the New Testament and eventually the entire Bible—bringing God’s Word closer to every heart and home.

What We Value

We value deep linguistic understanding and translation accuracy.
Our teams receive continuous training and work closely with qualified consultants to ensure that every translation is accurate, clear, and natural. Native speakers play a vital role in reviewing translations—ensuring the message of God’s Word communicates clearly and naturally within their cultural context.
